Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
General FAQs
1. Do you work with everyone?
We don’t. Custom homes require significant time, collaboration, and investment, so we take on projects where the client, property, and vision are the right fit. This ensures we can deliver the level of quality and service we’re known for.
2. What areas do you build in?
We focus on the Texas Hill Country and the corridor toward San Antonio, including Hays County, Blanco County, Spring Branch, and surrounding acreage communities.
3. What size projects do you take on?
Most of our homes start around $750k and often exceed $1M. We build full custom homes, ranch properties, homesteads, and multigenerational living spaces.
4. Do I need to own land before reaching out?
Having property already allows us to move forward more efficiently, but we are still open to conversations with clients who are actively searching. We can also refer you to trusted land specialists.
5. How involved will I be in the process?
You can be as involved or hands-off as you prefer. We guide the entire process for you, but we welcome collaboration and thoughtful input throughout the project.
Residential Design FAQs
1. Why do you start with design before construction?
Our design phase eliminates guesswork. Using Revit and AutoCAD, we build plans that reflect exactly how your home will be constructed, reducing surprises, delays, and rework later.
2. Can you work with my architect or designer?
Absolutely. We love collaborating with clients’ preferred architects or designers and also offer our own trusted partners if needed.
3. What if I only need help with design?
We do offer design as a standalone service, but the long-term goal is to build what we design. This phase also helps us determine if we’re a good fit to work together.
4. How long does the design stage take?
The timeline depends on the complexity of your home and how quickly decisions are made, but most projects fall within the range shown in our design-process graphic. This visual breaks down each step so you know exactly what to expect before we begin.
5. What makes your design process different?
We design homes without gray areas. Structural details, interior elevations, and even wall cavities are fully mapped so construction moves forward with clarity.
Homestead Development FAQs
1. Do you offer land development as a standalone service?
No. We only provide development services for clients who are building a home with us, ensuring quality and consistency across the entire project.
2. What types of development work do you handle?
We manage everything needed to prepare your property for a custom home — roads, driveways, utilities, waterway trams, retainage ponds, and demolition of existing structures.
3. Why is development important for my project?
Thoughtful development improves accessibility, drainage, and day-to-day convenience, making your property work for your lifestyle and long-term goals.
4. Can you remove existing structures on my land?
Yes, we offer demolition as part of our development services when preparing sites for new construction.
5. Will you coordinate with surveyors or engineers?
Yes. We work with trusted surveyors, engineers, and specialists to ensure every aspect of your land development meets the highest standards.
Home Building FAQs
1. What makes your build process different from other custom builders?
We have a superintendent or project lead on-site every day, paired with weekly client updates and a fixed-price contract. Transparency and accountability guide every step.
2. Do you offer fixed-price contracts?
Yes. Our contracts do not change unless the scope changes. If materials or tariffs increase unexpectedly, we absorb the cost — not you.
3. Can I bring my own subcontractors or materials?
We don’t allow outside materials or subcontractors because it affects quality and warranty. If you want a barndominium shell to finish on your own, we can build it, but we cannot warranty work done by others.
4. How long does a custom build take?
Timelines vary based on complexity and selections, but custom homes typically range from 12 to 24 months from start to finish.
5. What happens if something goes wrong after the home is complete?
You call us, and we fix it. We stand behind the homes we build and believe long-term performance is part of the investment.
